Looking for suggestions, I'm being called on by a JW

just before the pandemic affected my area, a couple of jws came to my door.

this was the first time i didn't tell them to hit the road but instead had a pleasant conversation with them.

i never revealed that i am a former jw, nor do i ever want the jws in my area to know that i was ever one.

See if you can get her on why the GB have authority - see if you can get her onto the subject of 1914. Then ask her what date they start counting from to get to 1914.

The date is 607 BCE - just see if she knows what year of Nebuchadnezzar that was (she should say 19th). FYI Watchtower changes it to the 1st year of Nebuchadnezzar. They say his first year was 624 BCE and his 19th year/aka his 1st year was 607 BCE.

The reason I suggest this is because if you look on the official website and go to the 2 videos which purport to be an explanation of their twaddle, what you notice is they do not mention how they arrive at the start date. They waffle on about 1914 being the end of the 2520 years. But they don't explain what the starting point is. Maybe it'll start her questioning if the subject interests her.

LongHairGal - yes they've been asking who has got rooms to spare. Its a guess but once they know who has rooms, next thing could be, 'would you mind this Bethelite living in your room?'

They had a disturbing talk on Sunday that sounds like they are after all those who will not say that GB is superior to Jehovah, Jesus etc. Usual stuff. Hang the Holy Spirit, it's what we chanel that counts. You agree or else.

Oh they also had a repeat of 'if the GB ask you to do something crazy, do it.'

Elders/COs etc have been discussing who is and who is not mentally in and preparing to chuck out or put the screws on as many PIMOs and PIMIs as they can identify.

I guess that's normal for them but they have had more time on their hands to plan and assess people's attitudes.

Also they may reduce the number of people at Bethel and seek to move them into the houses of those who are willing to have them.

What to do with old publications

hi guys,.

it's been a while since i posted here, but i feel like posting again.. it's hard sometimes to find the energy to post here after i expend all my time working a full time job and pretending i care about the wt$ at the same time.. i've been trying to slowly wake my girlfriend up ever since i first posted here, and i must say it is a long waiting game that i am playing right now.

almost all my efforts are dismissed and i've been slowly losing hope.. anyways, what i meant to really post here today is about old publications.. honestly anything that has to do with the watchtower and jdubs, as of recently makes me feel like vomiting.

If you have the space and it doesn't bother you I'd keep the literature. Watchtower use certain propaganda tactics but they are not the only ones who use those methods. However they tend to be the most pitifully transparent in the use of those tactics as you only have to hold up what the Bible actually says to see right through them.

If someone is willing to digitalize it, it may prove useful.

I have used images of articles in my YouTubes to show that an article exists, remind people of what it looked like and then highlight how Watchtower is using that contrary to the spirit and semantics in the Bible.

Best buzz word I ever heard was the noise made by the chairman of the judicial committee they had put together for me. I didn't attend the judicial. I just went along to tell them to call it off because what they were doing was wrong.

I told the chairman I was sticking to what the prophet Daniel said, that the 3rd year of Jehoiakim really was the 3rd year of Jehoiakim and Jesus stuck to what Daniel said too, so was Jesus an apostate? He said."gu gu uh wuh gu uh wuh." Kept on like that for a bit. Not sure if it was one word or fifty.

I expect he'd still make that noise if I asked him again. But they threw me out so I shan't bother.

How service is being conducted with the zoom meetings

a friend of ours who is married to a jw said that this morning for service everyone who was on zoom got to do a call while the rest listened in on the call.

there were thirty-one this morning listening in on one who would call someone to preach to.

shouldn't the person they are calling on be warned first that there will be so many listening in on their phone call from the zoom meeting.

Many times I worked with one particular elder. He was kind to me and was very good at the door-to-door ministry. But he never spoke about the Bible. He'd talk about ice creams and blackberries. When I did a door I'd talk about the BIble, so he did all the doors, generally and instructed me on how to eat rosehips or pick up rubber bands that postmen had left to make rubber band balls.

One day, he found me chatting to a return visit. It had taken a lot of work on my part to get her interested in the Bible. So he walks into driveway and immediately commends her on the view from her house and starts talking all about that. Yap, yap, yap. Hardly let me say another word. I couldn't believe he did that.

Looking back I sometimes wonder if one of the main pulls a householder had was if they lived in a good size home with a few decent antiques in so that if ever there was a house sale of their goods he'd know where the rich pickings were. If so I wonder how such a practice could be adapted to phone calls. "Good morning, thank you for answering your mobile device, I was wondering if you own anything I could make some dosh out of?" Hmm probably needs to be more subtle.

They recently got asked how they'd feel when the authorities came to assasinate them.

I'm thinking Wacko Texas. They are being psychologically brutalised with fear while all the time being encouraged to annoy the living daylights out of the public.

The sad thing is some of them mean so well. Several I know who were brought up as Watchtower publishers profoundly question what their parent's did to them. Their conclusion was that it was not possible for their parents, who deeply loved them, to harm them willfully. Therefore their parents had been hoodwinked.
